My Approach
I use a very gentle approach in my practice. As a body based therapy, you can share as much, or as little as you would like about your personal experiences. There is no pressure to explain anymore than what you are comfortable with. I will hold space for you in whatever way is needed.
My intention is to create a safe environment for healing and body awareness. Creating a connection with your body can take time and healing is not linear. My own healing journey has shown me that we need to give ourselves grace and hold space for our healing. It is ongoing, and does not always happen quickly. Learning to live in our body after trauma can encourage you to embrace being uncomfortable at times. When we are connected, we heal. And when we are uncomfortable, we grow.
What to expect during a session?
During a session with me, we will use different breathing techniques to relax your body and activate your sympathetic nervous system. I will encourage movement and sound to express and move your energy. With consent, gentle touch will be used to deepen the breath and support in moments of healing. Restorative yoga postures may also be used to further body connection. I may use sound in the form of music, or singing bowls to encourage further release or allow for integration and relaxation at the end of session. There will be time to debrief or discuss at the end of each session. Each session may look different as we focus and move through different areas of the body.
